4820023Thank goodnes he's gone
4820012I've never seen a professor like this.. he is really bad. if you don't have a box and have your answer in it on the quiz, he takes 30 points off!! he can't help, can't talk English, the slights are very bad because he just messes up the calculations.. find another professor. I took physics before in high school and won several prizes and i know the subject he covers and even i am confused.. i wish they counted my classes i took before(not to meet w/ this guy)
7520012Kind, grandfatherly old man who shouldn't be teaching.
4820012
9520012Great Professor. Interacts well with the class and teaches the material with a passion. Fortuantly I do understand russian, so I had an easier time understanding.
6520012This guy is impossible to comprehend. The class is graded easily but it's difficult to actually learn anything. He'll also tell you that you only need a 50% on the final to get an A and then after you get 80% and end up with a B will tell you that he was "just approximating."
9520012Very willing to help you do well
7520012When I looked at these evals for Vankov, I thought his class would be super easy. The truth is you do not learn that much and it is not as easy as you think to get an A. He does offer bonus points, but you need to know how to do the work to get them, and he does not do a good job at teaching the material. Do not take if you want to learn something.
9120012Very cool teacher. Fair with grading. Some maynot like his style, but he really forces you to think. Along with that he gives tons of chances for extra credit.
4820012Makes a permanent mark on the projector's screen (with a marker) and makes you do each homework problem on separate
"Egyptian papyruses."
5320012THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAD IN MY LIFE...HE CAN NOT TALK....HE MESSES UP ON CALCULATONS...AND IS VERY CONFUSING......NEVER AGIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7120011If your looking to take an easy physics course this is your man. The tests are open book and notes and homework is heavily graded overall. The lectures are very boring and it can be very hard to understand him. Bottom line, take him if you want to put minimal work into a maximal grade.
8820011This guy has to be one of the easiest science teachers I've ever had. All exams are open everything and he hands out a sheet before the test that explains exactly what's going to be on the test. His homework requires a very specific style but as long as you do it right you'll get a high score. The way he destributes points can be annoying, 4 questions, 150 point tests. He can be a little hard to understand in class. So if you want an awesome grade in a tough physics class with minimal amount of work, take this guy.
7520011Vankov is a difficult person to grade. It depends if you really want to learn the material or get through a course. He is fairly easy. He gives open note/book tests. But the reason he is easy is because he doesn't really teach anything. This was really dissappointing because I actually like learning something. But if you want an easy course and don't care bout learning something. He is the teacher.
9920011ok, rit kids...
vankov is by far the easiest and best physics prof here!! i got 100+ avg. with no studying. take him if you want an A in Physics
9920011Early in the quarter i was scared, i couldn't understand him and i thought i was gonna fail after getting a 50 on his first test. Then he got REAL easy. Don't take him if you like the teacher to teach you pertinant information. Take him if you want an easy A. I didn't even have to take the final.
8820011Nice guy. Very helpful outside the class. Difficult to understand him but he tries his level best. Easy tests and lots of Extra-credits for the taking.
9520011EASY GRADER
seriously he grades so easily it is impossible not to get an A and if you have an A you dont have to take the final
7520011Learn Russian before taking this class. I'm sure Dr. Vankov was an excellent professor back in the mother country, but it doesn't mean much when you can't speak English. Easy open notes/book exams, easy (but heavily graded) homework, and lots of bonus points. Don't expect to learn much, but you can always expect "maximal" points!
