| 58 | 20023 | Dr. Kahn seems to be knowledgeable about chemistry. However, knowledge alone cannot make a good or mediocre teacher. Bruce is not a teacher, he lacks the ability to connect with student and cannot explain concepts. This is evident by his continual need for powerpoint as his crutch. This makes mastering the concepts in his photo chemistry class challenging --- you must learn on your own for the most part.
His photo optics class is a joke. Everything you learn in his class you already learn in the required physics class --- and he know it, we have told him. But its evident that he doesn't like optics so he won't make any effort to teach it. He is also very demeaning to the female students in class. His frequent s-e-x-i-s-t jokes create a bad atmosphere for young women to feel at ease in the class. Finally, Bruce is embarrassed to be a professor in the Photo Tech department --- more than anything he wishes he could be a professor in the Imaging Science department, but they won't take him. So, instead he is trying to subliminally move over to the Materials Science Engineering department. Its really too bad that the Photo Tech department --- a great department --- is willing to keep someone who doesn't want to be a part of it. |
