9920023great teacher, class was fun. tests not very hard. kept things interesting most of the time, likes to involve the class a lot and wants students to talk a lot. its great cuz it keeps me awake. next socialogy class i have to take, im looking for his name...
9120023The only thing I didn't like about Dr. Barry for social psych was that he made it sound hard to get a good grade, but really it was excessively easy. He managed to keep me interested for most of his lectures (which is quite a feat with my attention span), and his tests are very easy with a rather minimal amount of studying. He graded the paper he assigned really generously. He assigned articles for basically every day of class, but they were usually short and easy, and the reading quizzes very simple. Overall pretty interesting and easy.

9920023He is one of the best teachers I've had in RIT. I took foundations of sociology and it was great. He uses many examples that appear in the exact same manner in the exams. He is also a great person and a great help with academic issues, such as graduate school. He simply was excellent.
9920023Really interesting, low work load, easy tests, fun teacher, layed back, great lectures.
9120023I had Barry for Urban Experience. It was pretty much an easy class and he's a nice guy. Not much work involved, a midterm and final with the material covered in class, and a paper. Watched some videos in class and had class discussions. Overall an easy A without the effort.
8520012I had him for social psychology. He's a nice guy and all, but his lectures need more work in terms of interest. Kill the excessive examples, please
8120012no idea what material was going to be on the tests. But the classroom atmosphere is good
9520011I would have to agree that Barry's classes are more like time sitting talking to friends. Actually knows the subject matter instead of reading it from a book like most. He was also a fair grader.

8520011I took Prof. Barry for Foundations of Sociology. Class was boring for the most part, but easy enough to get an A. He often tried to initiate class discussion and failed 80% of the time. An 8 page paper was required, yet no specifications, or any actual assignment was ever handed out. Prof. Barry also seemed highly unorganized. The papers I would receive back would often be crumpled or folded in some way; some even had coffee stains on them.

Overall though nice guy and a good teacher.
7120011Prof. Barry truly cares about his students, but...He drones on about this and that all through every lecture. Many people fall asleep in his class due to the major lack of enthusiasm. Would not recommend him for anything.
9920004A nice guy with a great sense of humor and attitude. I also learned stuff in his classes. Very fair grader.
7820002His class was pretty boring. If his voice hadn't cracked so much I probably would have fallen asleep.
9920002Very intelligent professor. Knows what he's talking about and doesn't make you want to sleep while he talks about it. Fair grader, one of the best professor at RIT.

9920002One of the most interesting professors I've had at R.I.T. He is very friendly, funny, and intelligent. His quizzes were easy (really really easy). Since his class is so easy, one would think that nobody really learns anything, BUT I think I learned more in his class than I did in any other class I've taken at RIT. The best thing I liked about his class was the informal discussions. I felt like we are just hanging out at a coffee house just chit-chatting. He knows some people are taking his class because they HAVE to, so he tries to make it as productive as possible.

9520002He is very laid back. You just have to do your work, and it is an easy A class (sociology)

9120002Psych and Soc taught at an approachable level to students of all majors. Lectures were relaxed, informal, and most importantly, humorous. Good attention in lectures pays off on exams. Would reccomend.
