5320023I wrote all of my critical statements, passed all of the quizzes with a D or better, and turned in over 14 pages of written work for my final assignment. I received a final grade of D. My friend failed most of the quizzes, didn't finish her final assignment and blew the final. She recieved a D. I emailed him a couple of times about my grade since I was out of state for the summer and I never received a response. The workload is disgusting. The quizzes are ridiculously hard. I enjoyed the MAG as well, but that wasn't because of Coffey. My GPA was blown because of a professor that didn't reward me for all of the work I did. Stay away, stay far far away!!

9120023More of an art philosophy class than anything else. I loved going to the MAG every other week- you get to see actual pieces instead of slides. Then again, I have a car. If you do the reading, listen, and take good notes, you should not have a problem with getting decent grades. The final assignment is not bad as long as you start it early enough to do good work. If you keep an open mind and actually listen to him, he has many interesting ideas and knows a lot about art.
4820012this guy is a dinosaur. he is completely out of touch with the real world and goes on rants about artwork and his silly philosophies. serious mental instability. you can picture this guy saying "mommy didn't love me." unless you are up to your balls in art, you're going to get a C in this class. extremely heavy work load. he lost my final essay and gave me an F, so I had to wait to come back from break only to find that he "found" my paper. oh yeah, and i'm not the slacker type just in case you were wondering.
6120012When I signed up for this class I thought we would be in an art room making pots. Turns out it is a WHOLE nother thing. If i wanted a Pschology course, i'd taken one, but this...
The stupid sh!tty critial statement list created more problems than it was worth. By the time I said to myself that I had to be kidding to continue with this course it was too late to add/drop. And nobody can agree more with me than the crappy HIDDEN costs of forcing us to goto some crappy art gallery at U of R. Some of us don't have two bucks to waste everytime we go cause nobody remembers to bring the stupid membership pass, and not to mention the students who don't have a car. The tests are also ridiculas. The last test I got back, the class average was a C and one honors student managed to pull off the only A off MY NOTES!

4820011A F**KING D**SCHEBAG. Wanted us to go to a museum and memorize every piece of every work of art there. I did not agree with one of the questions he asked on one of the handouts and he attacks me, saying I am institutionalized and conformist. Thanks for the personal attack, I really appreciated it. Needless to say, I dropped the class and took a 4 credit-hour fine arts class where I needed to do about 4 hours of work a week, instead of about 25 hours like this class required.
8120011He is very interested in art and was able to convey an appreciation to art. I didn't want to take art at all cuz i'm cs, but I actually appreciate the stuff now. We had to do 6 papers, but once you figure out how to do one, you're set. The visits to the museum were good b/c we got to see them in person. He broke the course into well defined segments, in each to analize art in a different way. By the end we could use each method and combine them to do a decent critque of art.
8820011Makes you think a lot. For this reason, many students don't like him. Sometimes he dodges questions and answers ones that appear unrelated. Sometimes gets a sour attitude, like he has somewhere better to be. But overall, I'd recommend him if you are really looking to expand your horizons.
4820011He makes you work at least 25 houst a week. His tests are impossible!!! And at the end you will get C at best and most probably D.
