Ratings for John Murley

8120012He is not organized at all but he is a good teacher. No papers to write and only 2 or 3 exams.
9920012I learned an exceptional amount from him in Constitutional law. An excellent, although a bit conservative teacher. I literally learned probably 80% of the material from his lecture alone. That makes taking tests easy. Definately recommended if you can put up with his conservative views. If you a liberal, you may want to think twice about taking him however...
4820012This guy is by FAR THE WORST PROFESSOR I have taken at RIT. In order to get a decent grade you need to agree with his flawed views. He also assigns long papers without notice and expects you to read the text book 5 or 6 times. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY
6520003Professor Murley is very unorganized. He does not provide students with an accurate assignment outline or grading plan. He randomly assigns lengthy papers without notice. You never have any idea what the grading criteria are or how much each assignment is worth. He never gives you a precise answer when you ask him about grades. He is also very strict regarding attendance, promptness, and “class disruptions”. NEVER leave the room until he dismisses you, and never be late. He will scold you and probably lower your grade if it happens more than once. If you are a political science major, you probably could deal with the essays he wants you to write, but if you are looking for an easy elective or concentration course don’t even think about taking any of his classes.
9920003One of the best professors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and attending his class. I had him for Judicial process. His lectures were always relevant not only to the course material but to our everyday lives. He encouraged questions and answered them effectively. I was sad to find none of his courses this quarter matched my schedule. Definately recommended by me.
9920002Had him for Political Parties and Voting...fantastic class and fantastic professor. Great discussions, relevent assignments, interesting final project, and having the New York Times as a textbook was much more interesting than it sounds!
