99 | 20023 | An amazing professor; take him for Calculus if you seek a true understanding of the material, rather than just to pass the class. He is a very fair grader, and most test questions come directly from the textbook (there are no surprises). He loves what he does, and it shows through his teaching. |
81 | 20023 | blah |
95 | 20023 | This professor thoroughly enjoy his work and it shows. He explains everything in detail, although at times he moves too quickly. Tests and quizzes can be passed as long as the homework is done, but since homework isn't collected there isn't as much incentive to do it. |
75 | 20023 | Lecture is dry, he teaches right out of the book. Uses lots of examples which are helpful. Assigns regular homework but doesn't grade it. Most exams come right from the homework but he throws in some problems that are on topics you barely touched on or are much more complicated than material covered in class. Grading is pretty rough, takes off lots of points but gives partial credit for just about anything so always write down something. He doesn't tell you but he does curve the grades up a bit at the end of the quarter. |
91 | 20023 | Dr. Marengo - 1) he's hot for an old guy 2) he loves math. He teaches straight from the book, never veering off topic. Assigns hw similar to quiz & test problems. He absolutely loves helping & teaching students. Teaches not just how to answer a problem, but the logic out of it. You can learn mucho grande from him. I only got a B, but his love for math, makes me love math too. |
99 | 20012 | I didn't realize how much I learned with this guy until I took another Calc class. The students from other prof's were weak. He really knows his stuff, and he is quirky but cool. He has some hard times with bad hearing, but speak up and he will help you out. He has a sense of humor, too, so its a bonus. |
91 | 20012 | Marengo is a good teacher. Besides that his tests come straight from the homework problems. This guy and Carl Lutzer are the best Calc 1 and Calc 2 teachers. Take either of these guys and you will know Calculus. |
99 | 20012 | Dr. Marengo can not be summed up in a short paragraph. To start, his grading system is "interesting" to say the least. He doesn't like grades and wishes that we didn't have to be worried about them all the time. So, A's are hard but not impossible by any means. Thats is the only thing that may be considered bad about him. On to the good things. Dr. Marengo has such a love for mathematics that you almost feel bad sometimes that you dont share the same emotions. His life basically revolves around mathematics. Trust me this is a good thing. You may not be able to talk about the altest DVD or video game with him but any questions posed that are Math realted will be answered to perfection. You can tell that he gets excited when kids are interested in Math. I would take his class based solely on how good it makes him feel to have a student that cares. |
95 | 20011 | Marengo is a very good calculus professor. He can take off major points for small things, but otherwise lenient in grading. Homework is optional, but you are guaranteed to have questions on the tests/quizes come directly from the homework. Attendence to lecture is also optional, but required for the workshops. |
99 | 20011 | If you attend his class regularly, his tests are very fair. All his tests are right from the homeworks. What else do you expect? I don't even speak English well and I also have learning disability. Still, all my tests are above 95/100. Final exam is 98/100. He always curved one letter grade for every student in his class if students show up throughout the entire quarter. A grade "A" is pretty easy in his class. Of course, it's your responsible to do all homeworks assigned. (You are not a kid in college). If you don't do the homework, you definitely get smoke in his exams. However, if you did the homework, you will leave the exam room early and know for sure you earn a letter 'A' for the exam. He doesn't even change the numbers! All exams look exact your homework problems. He is also a very good teacher and always helpful to students if requested by phone. (Email doesn't work with him, Anti-tech) |

85 | 20011 | Explains well. Is extremely funny. His tests tend to be easy, but his grading method is horrible. |
95 | 20011 | Very cool guy, teaches material, not answers, makes you feel confident about doing problems. Very approachable, on the deaf side so talk up when you ask a question. Easy tests if you study. Very good teacher if you do the homework. |
85 | 20003 | If you are pretty good at calc, then this class is an easy B. Goes over everything thats gonna be on the tests, but the lectures are really boring. I got a B and I skipped most classes, but I did do all the problems he assigned before tests. |
95 | 20003 | fair tests, lots of examples in class |
88 | 20003 | Very good |
91 | 20003 | He is a very nice professor, but I will have to confess that his lectures are monotonic and sometimes he does unnecessary proofs in the class. His tests and grading are pretty fair. I got an A in his class. He is pretty knowledgeable in his field. Does not collect any homework, but it is in your best interests to complete the problems he assigns. |
99 | 20003 | Good teacher, presented material well. Doesn't pull any tricks on the students. |
95 | 20002 | |
81 | 20002 | rapper or auctioneer is a very good description - when he recites those theorems, you better watch out. |
71 | 20002 | If you find Calc boring, Dr. Marengo will make it worse |
85 | 20002 | |
85 | 20002 | A very nice guy but lecture was a little dry |
88 | 20002 | Overall a good teacher. Explained things well. |
75 | 20002 | |
48 | 20001 | Not very good...Very boring and monotonic at times and then like a rapper or auctioneer...goes through things really fast... |
78 | 20001 | |
85 | 20001 | Very thorough, but boring. tends to rush through proofs, but doesn't hold you accountable for them. A decent teacher. |
91 | 19993 | He is slow, but teaches well. His tests are really easy, but he takes a lot of points off for small mistakes. Overall he is not bad at all. |
91 | 19993 | His lectures can be hypnotic, but he covers material completely. |
