81 | 20023 | So-so. Quizzes every week and be a good or a bad thing; the main problem is their difficulty is really inconsistent. One week you'll finishi n 5 minutes and get an A, and the next you'll struggle for a half hour and get a D. He's pretty explicit about what will be on quizzes and tests, which is good. The tests aren't bad, either, but definitely do the homework he assigns. |
53 | 20023 | Nice professor, but grades too harshly and doesn't give partial credit. The class is boring to go along with a boring teacher who can't teach. |
58 | 20023 | I had him for calculus III last year. He didn't say anything that he didn't read directly out of the book duing the class. He literaly held the book in front of him and read aloud from it and worked through the exact same examples. He tried to answer students questions but wasn't capable of doing so. Don't take him if you need the teacher to actualy explain the concepts to you. He's fine if you're the kind of student who can learn from the book, as his tests are fair. |
75 | 20023 | Doesn't speak english, doesn't answer questions very well, probably do to the fact that he doesn't speak english. I had him for discrete, and i was fine for half the quarter, then i got sick and missed a week, and he refused to help me / let me make stuff up. Doesn't mandate homework, which is good if you are lazy but bad if you need homework to help you learn. |
71 | 20023 | Doesn't always speak clearly. His style of teaching is played by ear for my Discrete I; he simply spends entire classes doing homework questions that we ask how to do. However all quiz's and tests are straight from work he teaches. (No need to read book.) Very rarely had homework he collected. If you know the material, he'd be a breeze to slack off for. |
95 | 20023 | Great professor for Discrete Math 1! The mistakes I made were small and stupid, but he had no problem re-explaining to me. Compassionate and Understanding! Would definitely take a class with him again. |
99 | 20012 | had him for calc3, very good all around. good explanations, questions are welcome. tests are moderate, with fair partial credit. quizes are every monday and are significant in final grade |
88 | 20012 | pretty decent |
91 | 20012 | I find this guy really interesting in calc 4. I like the material, and he presents it in a very formulaic manner, which makes everything pretty comprehendible. My two complaints are that he follows the book too much (does examples from book as examples from class) and doesn't grade the homework. Though that sounds like a good thing, when quizzes make up 60% of your grade and you don't do the homework because it's not collected, it's REALLY easy to fall behind. |
95 | 20012 | Gupta is the man for calc 4. Need i say more? |

95 | 20012 | Dr. Gupta is a pretty good teacher. I did horrible in his class, but thats because i never went.haha, oh wells. But if you go to class everyday, do the hw's, and seek for extra help--you'll do well. His quizzes aren't that hard. After the first quiz, you'll know what his other quizes will be like. I had him for calc III. |
88 | 20012 | Tries to help |
95 | 20011 | Cool guy, enjoyed his Discrete I class a lot. Do a search on google for "Laxmi Gupta" and hit "I'm feeling lucky." It'll show you how cool of a guy he is. |
99 | 20011 | He Rocks |
95 | 20011 | I took Dr. Gupta for Calc III and the man kicked ass. He is very reasonable with his grading and seems to enjoy teaching. I would definatley recommend him. |
91 | 20011 | Does a good job explaining the material and most test and quiz questions come right out of the book. |
85 | 20011 | Dr. Gupta really knows his stuff so it can be hard to keep up with him at times. If you do the work then you can do quite well. Sometimes he seems really tough, but if you talk to him you realize that he really has the students interests in mind. |
