9520023Knows his stuff. He is like hardware bible. Take him. Fair grader
9920023Great guy. Willing to go with the flow of the class and knows his stuff, too.
8820012A good teacher who knows his stuff, but often interjects parnoid tangents during lecture. Fair grader, though I got the impression that I wouldn't want to cause trouble or slack off in his class (which isn't a bad thing).
9120012I had Hill for 217 and am planning to take 340 with him. An intelligent man that does his best to have everyone understand the material. This sometimes leads to a rushed ending. Overall a good professor.
7120012Terrible at teaching in a large group. Ok one on one. Makes assumptions about students' knowledge.
8820011A good old fashioned teacher. Had him for data structures and he new the material well enough to bring almost everyone on board. If you do the work he will grade you fairly. If you don't even try he will sink you.
9120011Great teacher, horrible tests
9520011Excellent and thorough teacher, very fair
9920003Oldschool professor. To quote him, "We live in an analog world;" there are some things you just have to think out. I'd be willing to bet that some of the people who graded him down are the same ones who can't do long division on his tests. Great teacher, knows a lot about networking, one of his personal interests, and he made Data Comm as interesting as he possibly could. Grades fairly, very willing to talk to you outside of class. Sometimes a little impatient, but if you show some effort he'll reward you for it in the end.
6820003Had his 340 class. Professor's knowledge is out of date, he's about 5 years behind the times. Class is one giant rant about whatever is on his mind. Syllabus is not followed, at all, and he then crams everything in at the end. All in all a boring class for anyone who knows even the least amount of information about computers. If you don't mind wasting 2 hours of your life twice a week, take 340 with him, otherwise, find an instructor up with the times.
7520003Prof Hill really knows what he's talking about and is willing to help students BUT he assumes that everyone just KNOWS ALL THIS HARDWARE STUFF ALREADY and some people just don't. he doesn't seem to like people who don't know about hardware very much. he assumes that everyone puts together computers and networks on weekends. grrrrrrrrrr.
9520003Professor Hill was effective in getting the material across as well as getting in a joke here and there to try and liven it up. He was very generous in grading tests.

9920002Professor Hill is a very good teacher. He has immense knowledge in the subjects he teaches and pretty much everything else that relates to computing and modern technology. His tests were fair and if you put the effort in you can can easily get an A. All and all a very good professor and an asset to RIT's faculty.
6520002I can't really stand Larry Hill. You have to do everything his way.
If he says that "his way" is the way to do something and you do something different, you
fail. Even if your way works(programming).
His class is boring and he constantly confuses himself and his students.
9920001I had Larry for 340, and will have him again for 341. Excellent teacher. His experience in his field really shows, he's fair in his testing and grading, and he's always available for extra help. Plus, his tangential rants are the best!
9120001I had Larry for 341 - he's a great professor who really knows his stuff. Although he wanders off on tangents sometimes. His tests are pretty easy - mandatory crib sheet and the questions are out of the book. If you do your reading and study for a couple hours with a good crib sheet you can get an A for 341 :)
9120001All in all, Hill is a good guy. Fair grading of assignments and tests.
Needs to get up to speed on modern PC architecture though.
