4820023He is a horrible teacher and the book he wrote (required)is even worse. The class is a waste of time and you are better off not going to class and studying the sample exams found in the lib. If you can't understand him you can't learn from him.
8520023(Intro. Chem. Material) TAKE In spring class size of 50 compared to 200 students in Winter.

The book he wrote for the class was helpful during the class. Has many examples different from class examples. Also has large margins good for note taking. It has many grammatical errors and no index so useless after the course but it was a bargain.

Most say his class is a waste of time but hey it¡¦s your money. Miri speaks clearly, despite the German accent. He's got a sense of humor, which makes lectures entertaining. He always had interesting ¡§bonus¡¨ facts that you pick up semi-related to the topic. Gave a demo after every class to illustrated different chemical properties and reactions. Wants people to ask questions. Even if they sidetrack his planed lectures.

He leaves old sample exams on reserve in the library. Saves time looking for them in Engineering house. ļ

Fair grader each test 3 to 8 points were added (out of 100), dropped the lowest test and even gave 2 points to your final average.

In class he gave a test breakdown i.e. 10 questions on this topic 5 questions on this topic about week before the exam. Students (who go to class) know what to expect on an exam. This was great so you knew exactly what topics to study.
4820023Worst professor of college career thusfar. Consistently second-guessing himself. Tests are nothing comparable to lecture. The only thing that will help you in his calsses are the sample exams. I pity those who take his classes in the future.
4820023people are the worst
9920023Dr. Miri is easy to understand, despite the German accent. He's got a good sense of humor.

Well, the course is very demanding... you'll do yourself a favor if you take a voice recorder to class so that you pay can attention to the logic behind the facts, and also because he explains every single aspect in detail - sometimes you might get lost. Try also some extra reading in the web/books. He's a helpful professor, and you gotta make an effort to benefit fully from such an outstanding class. Good luck in your studies :)
9520012Miri is a cool guy and is really funny. I had him for intro to chem. materials. Very fair in the sense that his HW is what you'll be tested on. Do the work go to class and you should have no problem getting an A. And he has no problem answering questions even in a big lecture hall.
9520012Entertaining teacher both when he is and isnt trying to be. Goes over material at just the right pace. Also shows a couple good demos, such as electrocuting a pickle to show an Oxidation Reduction Reaction.
7820012Study the practice exams and you will do fine. But dont expect to get bumped up to an A even if you have a 89.99.
9920012great class.........i stopped going after christmas and still got an A. Tests are easy, just review sample tests found in the lib and you will do fine.

8520012Although it is pretty easy to get an A in the class, it seems like the material tought in class has little or nothing to do with the material on the exams. My recommendation is to the library and get the exams that are on reserve and study those. It seems like a waste of time to go to the lectures.
8120012i guess hes OK. but sometimes he isn't very clear. Furthermore, his last two tests had nothing to do with the tests on reserve or what he taught in the class. An example would be how on our final test on plastics he asked about 5 questions on the names on plastics and what their used in, which he spent about 5 minutes on and wasn't anywhere to be seen on the example test.

7520012He probably wouldn't be so bad teaching a smaller class but in a lecture of 200 he tends to lose people. He can be humorous at time but when it comes to getting the information across you are better off reading your text book. The packet of notes he gives you is about as easy to understand as ancient egyptian. I spend most of class trying to figure out how what he is talking about relates to what we are supposed to be covering.
9920004Stimulating lecture. Had him for Intro of Chem of Materials, if you go to class, do your HW, and read the text you should get an A. Just the ways most classes should be. Wants people to ask questions as much as possible, enjoys leaving his planed lectures. We didn't get everything done that we supposed to get done. I won't mind having him again for a class, but I would check out my other choices first.
8520003This teacher is an excellent teacher. He knows what he's talking about, BUT sometimes he goes on forever and forever about whatever he is discussing. Sometimes what he is discussing doesn't even make any sense, but rather, in one ear and out the other. Watch out for his tests... I remember my first one... sat down and i was like "oh my gosh....did we EVEN study that?!?!?!?" He's a real nice guy, really fair, and reasonable. But sometimes can get boring.
8520003had him for chem of materials. i barely went and did very decently just doing the problems he assigns the first day of class and looking at the practice test in the library. class was boring but ive taken worse. they teach is a nice guy and i have no problem with him. if u do the above and go to class ur golden
9520002He's crazy! But it's good. He's very interesting, teaches well and like to blow things up.
9920002Great professor, nice guy and funny. Can relate to students and revolves class around what the exam will be like. You always know what to expect on an exam with this professor. An Easy A if you work hard enough.(Chem Materials II)
8520002told what was going to be on the exams. HIs lectures were boring, but teaching chem to 300 students is not easy. Be sure to but the book becuase it will be your savior.
7520002He's probably a great guy..BUT, in a class with 200 - 300 students, very boring material to cover, and no time for explanations... you're pretty much left to learn it on your own by reading the book. Going to class is so pointless, just study, and take the tests. You wont miss much..he tells a joke once a week..thats about it.
BBoyE =)
9520002Good teacher who does his best to explain the material. Curves tests like a madman.
9920002Consider myself chemistry-hater but he is great professor who know his stuff very well! heck, yes, he curve the grade greatly!! Would take him again if I want to take chemistr-relate course.
9519993Had him for lab, he was very helpful, and good at explaining the procedures. Understanding.
