Ratings for Tom Cornell

9520023Overall a good professor. Don't believe the people who say that he can make you uninterested in a subject. He brings so much enthusiasm to his lectures that he makes you want to learn the material. The material isn't difficult (History of Science & History of American Technology), so that's no problem. A solid professor.
9520023Good guy, interesting takes on readings. Lets the students lead the discussions, which can be very painful.. but it's not his fault the class is filled with yokels that will rant for fifty minutes about life on their farms.
6520023Prof. Cornell does little to keep me interested in my class, History of American Technology, a topic that interests me. His monotone voice puts me to sleep. He does understand that you most likely have a full courseload, so doesn't overload you with work. His lecturing style could use some work, though.
9920012One of the best professors I've ever had, classes are fairly easy and challenging. I have had him for five different classes and have enjoyed each one.
9120012Enjoyed the class. His lectures can get kind of long and borring, but mostly I enjoyed the class. There are 6 discussions throughout the quarter that are based on the readings and as long as you skim the material you should be fine with that. Also he gives two essays that aren't too bad. He gives you the questions before hand and you can bring an index card to jot notes down. Overall enjoyed the class
7520011Great guy and likes student input, but is very boring and you can't read his writing. Bases all of his classes on class Discussions and 2 Essay exams.
8520003Very Interested in student input and encourages lots of discussions.
