99 | 20023 | He's great! He knows what he is teaching and he knows what he is talking about. He always prepared and his lecture is not boring. I was so busy to write the notes during the lecture. |
81 | 20023 | Like reading? Take this class. Fortunately if you do the reading I don't think you really need to go to class. Some of the videos he showed us were interesting and the discussions on topics like gender and authority were good, but for the most part he just droned on. His grading system was a little suspect, but do the reading and you should be ok. |
61 | 20023 | Good luck staying awake in this one. |
95 | 20012 | Dr. Serravallo is a challenging and fair professor. His lectures are very stimulating and relate well to the readings. Unfortunately, Professor Serravallo is too sociologically deterministic and thus is over-critical of other disciplines. He did not give the biological or psychological perspectives any merit. Throughout the quarter, it seemed as though he was implicitly trying to prove that the only way to examine one's life and surroundings is through sociological theory. Practicing this philosophy helped me understand more about sociology however provided an incomplete picture of my life. |

75 | 20012 | The reason I took Foundations of Sociology was because I had heard great things about the course. It was supposed to be a fun, light hearted course. Boy was I wrong. Vincent did everything in his power to make it as boring as humanly possible. His tests were fairly easy, but I don't think I learned anything due to his monotonous lectures. If you are going to take Foundations of Soc, take another professor. |
61 | 20012 | His lectures are boring. His tests are hard. His grading makes no sense. |
95 | 20012 | I thought Dr. Seravallo was a great professor. He applied a lot of book material to real life and discussed a lot of real life situations. In addition, he made sure we understood that he didn't want us to learn for grades only, but for the purpose of learning something. I liked his teaching style and i think he did a great job delivering the course materials to me. |
99 | 20012 | Great professor. Relates his material to his own life as well as the lives of his students. He also opened the blinds of the windows every day. |
95 | 20012 | Real nice guy, easy tests and assigments, though a bit of reading. |
95 | 20011 | Awesome, yet misunderstood professor. Tests are hard, yet reasonable. Presents material in an interesting fashion. One of the only people in my life capable of changing my views on the world. |
99 | 20004 | Awsome teacher...one major recomendation to students wanting to take his class is to TALK in class...get involved and you could improve your grade!! |
61 | 20003 | the class was horrible, the man is a DI%K, couldn't stay awake |
99 | 20003 | He was a great professor who made the material relative to our lives and really made me want to pay attention. It was early in the morning and I always felt bad when I went to sleep in there. Anyway, I recommended him to two other people and they both enjoyed his class also. |

95 | 20003 | I found Seravallo's intro. class to be very interesting and intellectually stimulating. He was very open in sharing his own experiences to relate to the material and made the topics relevant to our lives. He made me want to take another one of his classes and more interested in sociology. Also, his tests were pretty easy. |
95 | 20003 | He relates sociology to real life- not just text book definitions. The work load isn't bad and his tests are straight forward. |
81 | 20003 | He sure did like to tell stories about things that never really happened to him. He asked inquisitive questions but never cared about our answers. Oh well. |
95 | 20002 | I really enjoyed this class. Serravallo is fair and he approaches Sociology differently than other profs who have you buy that big old text. We had a few small books, we explored different topics that were relevant to us, grading was very fair, lots of conversation. Really interesting. |

71 | 20002 | He only likes you if you aren't an art major. He must not like creative minds. |
68 | 20002 | he's ok..he doesn't like people who try to prove their point |
99 | 20002 | One of RIT's Diamonds in the Rough, Seravallo is one of the Sociology dept's most engaging and stimulating professors. Class focus was on Sociology as it pertains to YOU and YOUR LIFE not on grading and assignments. Easygoing and approachable outside of class. If you want to learn and do well, he will recognize you. Hope to take again. |
